Job Title
Children’s Worker - Bamford
Accountability
The Children’s Worker will be employed by The Peak Circuit
and will report to the Presbyter in pastoral charge of the church
Aim
To maintain and develop provision for children in Bamford,
so that they may hear the Christian Gospel and grow spiritually.
Main Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with the Presbyter and members of the church,
the Children’s Worker’s responsibilities will be:
During term time, carry out development work with primary school-aged children on a
Wednesday afternoon:
o In particular to provide assistance and leadership in a Godly play session in the local
chapel and
o provide assistance and leadership in the development of the ecumenical after school
club
During term time lead some RE lessons and assemblies
Lead young church activities on a Sunday
In the school holidays, set up and lead a holiday club at the chapel
Management
The Lay Employee will have a Management Team whose responsibilities will be to:
Become familiar with the work of the Lay Employee.
Work with the Lay Employee to encourage the church to respond to new challenges and
opportunities in Mission.
Determine priorities of work.
Enable the employee to appraise and review existing activities, and change where
necessary the action and focus of work.
Ensure good communications between ‘Stakeholders’ groups and networks involved.
Monitor and evaluate progress with the Lay Employee on a regular basis – meetings taking
place quarterly.
Act as a ‘sounding board’ to the Lay Employee
