Cummins died in hospital in Chesterfield
on Christmas Eve 2014 at the age of 92.
In 2014 he celebrated 60 years since his ordination. After service in the RAF as a navigator during
the war, he trained for the Congregational ministry at Paton
College , Nottingham . His ministries were in Australia , then at Broadstone in Dorset, Westfield (Bridgewater ),
Rose Hill Chesterfield with Calow & Carr Vale and in Wigston & Kilby in
Leicestershire. After retirement in
1988, he and his Dutch wife Gerda, settled in Chesterfield where he became an active member
of St Andrew’s URC. He preached regularly
during much of his retirement and was well known and loved by many
congregations in Derbyshire. The
funeral will be on Friday 23rd January with the committal at
Chesterfield Crematorium at 12.30pm and a Memorial Service at 1.15pm at St
Andrew’s URC, Newbold Road ,
Chesterfield , followed by
refreshments. Everyone is welcome to
both services.
