Revd Douglas Harvey Cummins died in hospital in Chesterfield on Christmas Eve 2014 at the age of 92.  In 2014 he celebrated 60 years since his ordination.  After service in the RAF as a navigator during the war, he trained for the Congregational ministry at Paton College, Nottingham.  His ministries were in Australia, then at Broadstone in Dorset, Westfield (Bridgewater), Rose Hill Chesterfield with Calow & Carr Vale and in Wigston & Kilby in Leicestershire.  After retirement in 1988, he and his Dutch wife Gerda, settled in Chesterfield where he became an active member of St Andrew’s URC.  He preached regularly during much of his retirement and was well known and loved by many congregations in Derbyshire.   The funeral will be on Friday 23rd January with the committal at Chesterfield Crematorium at 12.30pm and a Memorial Service at 1.15pm at St Andrew’s URC, Newbold Road, Chesterfield, followed by refreshments.  Everyone is welcome to both services.
