Preaching on difficult occasions
Dr. Alan Billings of
Sheffield is coming to help us wrestle with those occasions when we are
uncertain of what The Word is for the coming Sunday.
This is an ecumenical training event for all who preach.

LUNCH: Soup and drinks provided – bring your own
sandwiches.
FOCUS: Alan will take 2 topics which are not
easy to preach about and set out ways of approaching them.

Dr. Alan Billings has been a parish priest in inner-city
Sheffield and the Lake District. He was Vice Principal of Cuddesdon College,
Oxford, (Anglican theological college) and Principal of the West Midlands
Training Course at Queens College Birmingham (Methodist, URC, and Anglican). He
was Director of the Centre for Ethics and Religion at Lancaster University and
now tutors for the Urban Theology Unit, Sheffield. You may have heard him on
BBC Radio 4’s Thought for the Day or read one of his many books.
