Well it’s August already and the two Trussell Trust Foodbanks have made an impact in Chesterfield, both at The Gates and the Loundsley Green Community Centre.
Since opening just a couple of months ago we have
fed over 90 people and distributed over half a tonne of food.
Many thanks to those of you who have signed up to be volunteers, those that have already given their time at one of the two venues and those who helped at the Asda food collection on 3rd August.

ASDA Collection
The Asda collection brought in nearly 0.5 tonne of food from the generous shoppers at the Sheffield Road branch. This was thanks to their Community Coordinator Bev ably helped by her young daughter.  Although not always so well off themselves the customers contributed generously, some even handing in bags of food.
Special thanks to the collectors who gave up their time, especially Naomi’s son who will make a great future salesperson, but also Tim and Naomi for organising.

The warehouse has now been cleared, its awaiting renovation work, decorating and a new security system to fit in with the owners premises. The cost of this will be borne out of the grants applied for amounting to
nearly £1,000. Hopefully this will be helped by future donations.

Ben Martin our coordinator is now a married man and living in Newbold with his new wife Kelly and stepson Levi.

Yvonne and Ben have been invited to a couple of churches for their services plus a Men’s Breakfast. Any other organisations doing anything?  Contact us if you would like a speaker to come along and present to
your group or organisation.
