Street Pastors were invited to bid for a consignment of free Olympic badges being offered by a supporter. I put in a bid not seriously expecting to be successful but found a DHL lorry outside my house two days later with four large boxes of badges!

On Super Saturday as Team GB were winning 3 gold medals team street pastors were offering the badges to Saturday night visitors to Chesterfield.  They were well received with lots of people happy to associate themselves with the great achievements of our athletes.

Just over 20 people gathered to pray for Birdholme last Tuesday at Church in the Peak.  After worshipping together we broke into two groups - to give more people opportunity to pray.  We prayed for the local schools, for the staff who work there and for the children and for the Community YoungStars scheme which is successfully drawing children from that area.  We also prayed for all of the churches in the vicinity that God would bring increase as local people are added to their number.  Many thanks to leader David Newman and Church in the Peak for making us welcome in their church home.

Next is the BRAMPTON prayer meeting which will be on Tuesday 25th September 7.30pm at Storrs Road Methodist Church and will be led by minister Diane Hare.  Please put it in your diary and join us.  We believe much can be accomplished when we are united in prayer for our town.

Please advertise in your churches the fact that there is a Prayer Walk on Saturday September 8th. The starting points, round the edge of the town are:

Walton St John’s Church
Junction of Langer Lane and Grangewood Road
St Paul’s Church, Hasland
Calow URC
Brimington Parish Church
St Mary’s High School
Homebrook Valley Family Church,Wardgate Way

The starting time is 10 a.m. in each place, and there is a rendezvous in town at Rose Hill United Reformed Church at about 11a.m.  The idea is to stroll along, pausing at anything of interest or concern for a moment of reflection and prayer, whether voiced or silent.  Experience suggests that, by walking, in company, with a prayerful intention, we notice things that we may have overlooked when passing by car or by bus…..  There will be a leader at each starting point with a route-map.
