PRAYERS LAST NIGHT

Big thank you to everyone who came to pray for Chesterfield town centre at the Winding Wheel last night.  Great turn out and encouraging to see the Ball Room so full.  Appreciated the input from the ministers who were able to come and those who sent representatives showing the diversity of ways in which we all serve our town and giving the opportunity to pray together for those projects.

EVERY CHILD DESERVES A HOME FOR GOOD

I’m simply getting in touch to ask if you would be able to mention, or ask your church leaders to mention, a Home for Good (see http://www.homeforgood.org.uk/ ) meeting at St Thomas’ Brampton church centre next Wednesday (26th November) starting at 7.30pm.

The meeting is for anyone who is interested in fostering or adopting. It’s also for anyone who might like to know more about, or get involved with, the Home for Good campaign that is moving forward in this area.
There will be an opportunity to chat with staff from Adoption Matters ( see http://www.adoptionmattersnw.org/ ) and foster carers who are part of Home for Good and are fostering for Derbyshire County Council. Also, Jennifer Yates, the Home for Good Northern coordinator will be there to chat with anyone who would like to.

Currently there are thousands of children in the care system needing a home, something the church could really do something about.
Thanks in advance for you help.

Best regards,

Phil Pierce

CHESTERFIELD FOODBANK COLLECTION AT TESCO

Hi,

My name is Ben Martin and I am the project manager of Chesterfield Foodbank. Below is some information regarding a major food collection we are running at the end of this month that we urgently need volunteers for. Please may you forward it on to your congregations/members/mailing lists? If you have any questions then don't hesitate to contact me:

On 27th, 28th and 29th of November Chesterfield Foodbank will be collecting food at Chesterfield Tesco Extra. This national collection only happens twice a year and is one of our primary sources of food donations. To collect, weigh and sort the donations efficiently is a mammoth task as you can imagine; this year we expect to collect over 3 tonnes across the weekend!

This is why we need your help!

Across the three days we have a number of jobs that need to be carried out. These include collecting food at the supermarket, transporting food to our warehouse and weighing/sorting the food. At the supermarket we have five 90 minute slots available each day (if you are able to do more then brilliant!). These are: 0930 - 1100, 1100 - 1230, 1230 - 1400, 1400 - 1530, 1530 - 1700 (the last slot is a final 'lift and shift' session so please make sure if you volunteer for that you are happy to sort and carry boxes of food).

If you are available and would like to help out in any way then please contact us either by contacting the Foodbank at info@chesterfield.foodbank.org.uk with the subject heading 'Christmas Tesco Collection 2014' or calling 07984 589456 (if it goes to voicemail please leave a message with your name, telephone number and what it is in regards to and we will get back to you as soon as possible).

Kindest regards,

Ben Martin

There's an open invitation to join us on Thursday 6th November at the Ragged School 7.30pm to catch up on all the great things that the church in Chesterfield is achieving and events that are planned for the near future.
