THE SECRET IS OUT! WHIT WALK THEME REVEALED AT TONIGHT'S LAUNCH

This year's Procession of Witness
on Bank Holiday Monday 26th May will have the theme:

VICTORY with JESUS

The theme is particularly appropriate with all the sporting events still to come this year - The Commonwealth Games in Scotland, The Tour de France including a stage in West Yorkshire, the football World Cup and the Ryder Cup. The committee tell us it was by pure chance that they chose the colour theme for this year to be green and yellow - the colours of Brasil!

If you have never seen the parade or taken part - it is quite a spectacle as it moves through the centre of town, colourful and joyous and full of life.  All local churches are invited to take part either walking in the procession, or with a tableau, decorated van, trailer or banner and to use the opportunity for evangelism. We do draw quite a crowd!

If you would like more information on how your church can get involved or to receive the Whit Walk newsletters contact:  cechesterfield@gmail.com

CINNAMON NETWORK EVENT IN CHESTERFIELD

Cinnamon Network Regional Events 2014

The Cinnamon Network invites you to one of thirty Regional Events hosted by local churches to inspire and resource you in church based community transformation
CHESTERFIELD, DERBYSHIRE. Thursday 5th June 7.30-9.30pm at Walton Evangelical Church
As the social needs in our communities continue to increase and local councils are being forced to reimagine welfare, the Church faces an unprecedented opportunity.
The Cinnamon Network is trying to make it as easy as possible for local churches to serve the people who are most at need in their communities.
We want to invite you to attend one of these events to:
  • Introduce you to a menu of church-based community projects which you can draw from to help solve social needs.
  • Explore which best-practice projects are most appropriate for your community and church.
  • Explore how to start a new church based community project by using the ReadySteadyGo pathway.
  • Take away new resources to inspire more of your congregation to volunteer for community projects.
  • Understand how other churches are finding new ways to work with one another, the local council, the police and other statutory agencies.
  • Look behind the scenes of how community projects work by meeting the project leader, volunteers and beneficiaries.
  • Find out how easily you can access Micro-Grant of £1,500-£2,000 to start a new church based community project.
