ASSISTANT CHURCH SECRETARY
 ST JOHN’S CHURCH, WALTON
CHESTERFIELD

The Assistant Church Secretary will work with the Secretary to provide secretarial support to the Incumbent/Wardens and to St John’s and will provide some cover for the Secretary during holidays or sickness. The role is for 6 hours per week, split between Thursday and Friday with a requirement to provide cover for the Church Secretary during holiday and sickness.

WORSHIP CENTRAL COURSE STARTING IN CHESTERFIELD

From HTB the home of the Alpha Course comes this new Worship Central Course co-written by Al Gordon and Tim Hughes.  It is a free 7 session course which runs in a similar vein to Alpha with some teaching, practical workshops and discussion.  Some of the sessions are geared specifically to those who lead worship as part of a worship team but all would be beneficial to anyone who wants to grow in worship.

New Life Church is hosting this course at St John's, Walton 9am - 12noon on the first Saturday of the month for the next 7 months.  It's a relaxed, friendly setting and you can listen or join in with the discussion as you wish.  The first session on Sat October 5th is entitled 'Why is Worship Central?' and looks at why worship is a vital part of our relationship with God.

BISHOP MARTIN VISITS CHESTERFIELD

Bishop Martin is Chair of The Provincial Development Committee of the Anglican Church of Burundi. This valued partner is exploring microfinance, community development and beekeeping among other exciting work. By reaching and bringing together all sectors of Burundian society, it sets out to repair relationships damaged in the war.

Before becoming Bishop, Bishop Martin was a
community development officer and has hands on
experience of delivering development projects in Burundi. His particular areas of expertise are community development, HIV/AIDS, peace building and reconciliation and elections.

SCHOOL PASTOR TRAINING BEGINS NEXT SATURDAY



Chesterfield School Pastors will begin their training on 10am Saturday 7th September at Grace Chapel.  Our first session is 'Roles and Responsibilities of a School Pastor' which will be taken by a representative of Ascension Trust.  If you have been thinking about finding out more about being a school pastor this is a great opportunity and the training and lunch are free!

FOOD MARKET RETURNS TO ST THOMAS', BRAMPTON



After the summer break, the Food Market returns to St Thomas, Brampton this coming Saturday 7th Sept 10am-1.30pm. We are expecting some new stall holders plus lots of the old favourites.
We are also acting as a drop-off for the Chesterfield Food Banks during market opening hours, so if you have tins or dried foods that you can donate, then bring them along. The food stuffs will be taken to the Banks straight after the market so please only bring foods before 1.30pm on Saturday.
