Feedback from parents has been really positive so ‘Well Done’ to the St John’s, and Stonedge Chapel team!

Zion have taken over this week so please pray for their volunteers and for ever increasing numbers of children to come along.  On Saturday Walton Evangelical in partnership with Grace Chapel will take over for week three.  Please keep prayer cover going.

COMMUNITY YOUNGSTARS STARTS THIS MONDAY 23RD JULY

Community YoungStars

Summer Project

Very exciting that after such a frenzy of organising activity that next week sees the start of  Community YoungStars at Queen's Park Annexe.  This collaboration between many different churches in Chesterfield, Community Safety, Council, the Police and Fire Service is the biggest joint project we have tackled so far.

The club has been targeted particularly for children living in the Birdholme, Boythorpe and Grangewood area and advertising has gone into local schools through Mike Dalby.  Mike from Holmebrook Valley Community Church already works regularly in these schools,  taking assemblies and supporting the work of the teaching staff.

There will be three sessions per day: the morning for primary age children, the afternoon for 11-15yr olds and a youth club for 15-17yr olds in the evening.  A whole range of fabulous activities will be available from football coaching to street dance, craft activities and music and so much more.

Please pray for the christian volunteers, the coaching staff and that the children who come along will have a great time!

Watch this space for updates.

Prayer for Birdholme area 10th July

Big thanks to all who came to Derby Road Methodist Church last Tuesday to pray for the Birdholme / Grangewood / Boythorpe area of Chesterfield.  We prayed that all the local churches would be blessed and that God would add to their number.  We also prayed for the Community YoungStars holiday scheme that will be starting soon in Queens park Annexe and which we are hoping will draw children from that area.

Date for your diary – the next Christians Together for Chesterfield  prayer meeting will be at Church in the Peak on Tuesday 7th August 7.30pm.  Everyone welcome and keep watching for details of a prayer meeting in your area of Chesterfield in the near future.

Street Pastors at Chesterfield Olympic Torch Relay

Three teams of Street Pastors volunteered to help on the day the Olympic torch came through Chesterfield.  They were stewarding along the route where the biggest crowds gathered.  Armed with their first aid kit they were called upon several times and gave out the special street pastor lollipops which have amazing powers.

Reports back from the organisers of the event and those who took part say that our street pastors were a credit to us in their attitude and willingness to help.  Well done all!

Christians Together for Chesterfield Prayer Meeting

On Tuesday 10th July 7.30pm at Derby Road Methodist Church we will be gathering for a special prayer meeting for the Birdholme area.  This is the first in a series of prayer meetings over the next year which will each target a different area of our town.

With the start of the Community YoungStars Summer Holiday Club only a few weeks away this is a great opportunity for us to pray for it to be a success and for the children who attend to have a great time.  Everyone welcome to pray.
